With the ability to build a desktop computer no easily [...]

With the ability to build a desktop computer no easily within everyone’s reach thanks to simplified processes, many people have at least considered the prospect of constructing their own PC from parts, but a lot of people don’t know exactly what components they need in order to build a proper machine.

The first part you need to build a computer is the shell of it, more commonly known as the case. This is the part of the computer that keeps the rest of the components from being exposed to the elements.

The foundation of all of the other parts, the motherboard, is screwed directly onto the case. This is the part of the computer that allows all the other parts to talk to each other, and is composed of a large number of ports and sockets to accommodate everything.

Inside a bracket on the motherboard lies the processor. This is the brain of the computer, and performs all non-graphical mathematical calculations for the computer. In a pinch, it can also provide graphical calculations, and while it can be adequate for lower-end machines, anything mid to high-range needs a graphics card.

Speaking of which, the graphics card is what performs the graphical calculations for high-end programs, such as games and high resolution videos. The use of a video card allows the CPU to be freed up for other processes, and provides more specialized/efficient processing for graphical tasks.

Of course, there have to be programs for these pieces of the computer to actually process, and that is what the hard drive is for. The hard drive, familiar to most computer users, has grown to rather large sizes, such as the 2TB wd2003fyys. These hard drivers are where all of the programs are stored for eventual use.

When those programs are finally loaded, they are put in the part of the computer called RAM. This stands for Random Access Memory, and is much faster than the hard drive, allowing for programs to be run in real time.

There’s one last thing that is arguably the most important part of any computer, the power supply. This piece of the computer supplies power to every other part, and is required to keep the computer running. When it comes to buying this part, you need to look for whats called a “modular” power supply, which allows you to only use the power cords you need, keeping excess wires from cluttering up the inside of your case and getting in the way of airflow and other parts of your computer. With this knowledge, hopefully you can get the ball rolling on your own computer, and feel the gratification that comes from building your own stuff.

Do you want to improve your website ranking? Do you fin [...]

Do you want to improve your website ranking? Do you find that your website is struggling to gain new traffic and leads? One method many companies are using to improve their online visibility is content marketing. What is content marketing and how will it help your website? This is a simple form of marketing as you create quality content and post it on other websites. The trick is to have a link-back to your website. Posting on the right type of sites will give you the traffic you need and will improve your overall website ranking.

The content you market must be valuable. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes and really consider why people would want to work with your business. Do you put out content that is new, impressive, engaging, and sharable? If you are posting relevant content, people will have a desire to read it. They will be motivated to click on the link to your website. Once they are on your website, you need to do the hard work of selling them on your product. Quality landing pages are extremely important. The website is your salesman and it needs to be clear and get straight to the point.

Quality writing will get your reader to take action. If you post blogs that are engaging and entertaining, it will be easy for the customer to click on your link. You often see content marketing in the form of email newsletters, white papers, blogs, and video marketing. If you want to stand out, start using unique and creative marketing methods like whiteboard animation. This is a great way to clearly discuss difficult content with your target audience.

To create content that people will want to read, you need to focus on the following:

Proper headlines and titles

Call to action

Beneficial content to readers

Trustworthy content and building a solid reputation with your readers

It can take some time to create posts that are going to bring in the traffic. The key is to remain consistent and to focus on giving your customers some quality information. Post your blogs on higher quality websites so you can get the proper links to your site. If you focus on creating content that people will find engaging, they will share them with others.

If you are just creating basic, boring topics to get links to your website, you will not gain quality traffic or links. Companies want blog posts that are new and informative. They are giving you a link on their site and they need to make sure you are giving their readers something that they want to read.

Many people like to upload files into their WordPress m [...]

Many people like to upload files into their WordPress media file storage area for quick file sharing. However, sharing files between your home network and your company’s network can be a risky thing to do if you are not careful about how you share them. The last thing you want is for an unauthorized person to view your files because you shared them in a way that allowed them to be vulnerable.

There are Internet deals that allow you to share files using a program such as Dropbox. Both free and paid versions of this program let you upload files to your drop box so that you can access them from home, work or any other place where you have access to a computer with an Internet connection.

File Works is another online program that lets you share files. By renting space on the File Works servers you can safely store your files. Even if you are not tech savvy you can still easily use this service to safely share files between your home and work computers.

If you have a computer running Microsoft Windows XP at both work and home you can take advantage of the built in file sharing feature. To do this, you must have your home and work computers networked. Both remote and local users can access your shared files. Windows XP allows you to set different levels of access for file sharing. You can choose from five different levels with the first level being the most secure and the fifth level being the least secure.

Other Internet deals allow you to share your files using programs such as DivShare, 1-Click-Share and YouSendIt. DivShare is very easy to use and lets you upload files as big as 200MB. The 1-Click-Share program lets you upload files up to 100MB. YouSendIt will let you upload files up to 100MB and allow you to easily send those files to any email address.

Gbridge from Google is another way for you to safely transfer files between work and home. Setting up Gbridge on your home and work computers will help you create your own virtual private network, which is one of the most secure ways to transfer files. Files can be traded or streamed online between both your computers.

Another file sharing program is Nitroshare, which is your best choice if your home and work computers run on different operating systems. Configuring this program is easy and will let you start sharing files right away.

Internet deals that allow you to transfer files safely are not hard to find. A simple Google search will point you in the right direction and help you find the perfect file sharing program for your personal and professional needs.

When you are using any kind of blogging site, it is critical that you use tags for all of your posts. This is a key component of your strategy if you want to get more traffic on your site. Tagging a post allows Google and other sites to know what it is about and allows those search engines to pull it up when someone searches for it.

The more of the same tag that you have through your whole blog, then the more likely your blog is going to be pulled up when someone searches for that word. If the tag is used multiple times over the course of the blog, then Google simulates an idea of what your blog is about. For example, if you tag multiple posts with ‘cars’ then Google will think that your blog is about cars. This is useful if your blog really is about cars, and if it is not then you need to change your tagging methods.

Tag what your post is really about. If you do not tag what the post is about, then the contents of the post and the tags will not correlate and search engines become confused and they will not use your blog for any search terms. It also helps if you hyperlink within your text to an article or something that has similar tags to help those search sites find your blog better.

Best of luck in the blog-sphere. These little nuances can help you when you are trying to have your blog read.

Get Connected! Your brain has been excavated of all its [...]

Get Connected!

Your brain has been excavated of all its creativity and profound ideas. The simple act of creating a WordPress Blog has liberated the thoughts held prisoner from the deep chambers of your head. You may have spent hours, even days, writing your masterpiece, and clicking the “update” button is the final step to emancipate your expertise to millions of eyes. Suddenly! “Post Updated” flashes onto your screen. You’ve done it! You have touched the lives of many, and have informed the ignorant; you have changed the world.

Ok wake up now! Let’s be real here; no one has any idea your post exists. Millions of people just like you have been “liberating” their thoughts for years. In reality, your post has about the same chance of survival as a baby Sea Turtle in the wild:

Many our born, but few survive. The best way to ensure survival of your post is to connect it with the biggest craze to hit the Internet, social media. Social media has become the new face of marketing, and more importantly a very useful tool in ensuring the survival of your blog. If you don’t have Twitter, sign up! Not on Facebook? Stop wasting time and get on! These are great mediums for marketing your posts.

Strategy

If you don’t have a plan, you might as well give up now. Figuring out your social media strategy is key to getting the most out of your social media profiles. The most important question to ask yourself is, “What social media platforms will best deliver my blogs message?”

For example, if your blog were heavy on pictures and other graphics, then Pinterest and Instagram would best serve you in getting exposure to your blog. That’s not to say that Facebook and Twitter wouldn’t be helpful, it’s just that the previously mentioned platforms would probably be worth more of your time and energy. Make sure to think this thru.

You will also want to plan out how active you will be on your social media profiles. Make sure that you are somewhat consistent in when and how you post, tweet, pin, etc. Give your following something to look forward to in a specific amount of time. Let’s say that you were a Webmaster for a gardening blog. You could tweet out a “gardening tip of the day,” or feature someone’s garden once a week. This is your chance to be creative and innovative. Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Useful Plugins

Now let’s talk about physically connecting your blog to your social media. Here is a list of useful WordPress Plugins for integrating your blog with your social media:

1) Digg Digg - This is a great sharing plugin that installs a great looking share bar on the side of your posts. The makers of this plugin are very good at getting frequent updates out because they are striving to bring WordPress users the best social media plugin possible. So far they have done a great job. Highly recommended.

2) 1-click Retweet/Share/Like - I used this plugin for a long time before I switched over to Digg Digg. This is a very clean social media sharing bar. If your looking for a sharing tool that doesn’t float next to your posts, then I would recommend this plugin. The bar is placed neatly above and/or below your posts. For those with more simple taste use the 1-click plugin.

3) Fanciest Author Box - This is a great way to get some love to your social media profiles. The Fanciest Author Box is just that, fancy. You can feature yourself as an author while also displaying your social media profiles in a very organized way. This plugin isn’t free, so for a small ten dollars you can rock this plugin on your blog. Very nice product.

4) Shareaholic – This is one of the best looking share bars I have seen. This allows your users to share your post on MANY different social media sites, and comes with very clean, interactive buttons. Highly recommended.

5) Share This – Similar to 1-click, Share This provides a great share bar above or below your post. The pictures are a little bigger than 1-click. It all depends on what fits the best with your site and your taste. Youcancarry.com, for example, uses share this to integrate its WordPress blog with its social media profile. This is a snapshot from their site:

Well folks, this should be a good start to getting your WordPress blog up and running on the social media scene. There are plenty of tools out there that can help you get your blog to where you want it to be. Hopefully this post can give you a little boost in getting there. Thanks for reading!

Many bloggers reach a point in their business where they began to ask serious questions. They wonder if this is worth their time. They wonder how much longer they can keep blogging as a ‘non-profit’ business. This is the moment of truth that either weeds them out or makes them stronger. If they choose to learn and stick with it, they’ll start learning about conversions and trust. How do you build trust on your blog? Today the people behind Blogging.org will answer this question by covering these points:

Getting your name out there

Delivering the goods

Employing trust builders

Being personable and like-able

Let’s begin

1. Getting your name out there

Too many bloggers are selfish with their content. If you have something to share, get it out there. Among the many benefits of guest-posting, the one I want to focus on, is building a reputation among the blogging community; especially in your industry. To put more simply, by guest-posting, people start to become familiar with your name & brand. Not just any ordinary guest-posts will do the job. Muster up some courage and solicit guest-posts from the biggest names in your industry.

2. Delivering the goods

Does your blog deliver the goods? If you’re doing SEO, does your page match what you tell readers in the title & description tags? If you promise a free white paper, are you making it easy to find and download? Way too many bloggers are jinxing themselves and their business by not delivering the goods. Does your content solve real problems? Every industry as its core issues, struggles, and desires. Identify them by doing keyword research, hang out in the comments section of the big name blogs, and see what people are asking in Yahoo answers.

3. Employing trust builders

Social proof, testimonials, privacy policies, terms & conditions, and security seals are all examples of trust builders. They are incredibly important, especially if you’re selling a product on your blog. Nobody wants to be a guinea pig. Social proof and testimonials show that someone has trusted you with their credit card information. Privacy policies tell users what you’ll do with their information. People don’t want to give you their info until they know you won’t sell it off or spam them. Great person I know doing this is my buddy Adam, he’s building trust every time he puts up a post with testimonials. Great way for people to build trust.

4. Being personable and like-able

Every writer goes through an awkward phase where they are trying to find their voice and writing style. They’ll do funny things like:

excessively use CAPS

use colors in their posts

act all perfect

condescend their readers

There are more, but these are the ones that clearly don’t build trust. Readers associate with people they like. If they like you, then they trust you with their following and their wallet. It pays to become a like-able person. For this I recommend you talk to your readers like you would talk to your friend if the two of you were just sitting on the couch together. Start applying these teachings and you will build trust on your blog. I guarantee it.

Creating an online following for your blog can require [...]

Creating an online following for your blog can require more than just effectively writing. Particularly when you are just establishing your blog and making a name for yourself you will want to find ways to spread the word and attract followers you come back to you blog often.

Suggestions for getting people to return time and again to your blog include:

Creative writing. People will return more frequently if they are actually interested in what you have to say. Good writing is the most important part of creating and maintaining a blog. If readers find what you write interesting they will return day after day to read it.

Be consistent. The fastest way to lose a following is to write sporadically. If you want to have a loyal blog following you must be a consistent blog poster. Once viewing your blog becomes a habit readers will check regularly as long as you continue to post regularly.

Allow followers to be involved in the conversation. Allowing comments to your blog posts can be a great way to keep followers coming back because they feel involved in the process. When you allow comments however you will need to be sure that you have the time to monitor them and make sure that they stay on topic. It is also nice for readers to see that you also respond to comments left as well.

Offer contests or giveaways. A great way to excite your readers is to offer a giveaway or promote a contest. Readers love to have the chance to win something and creating a buzz about your blog will not only bring readers back but may also bring new readers as well.

If your blog has a routine publication, offer a subscription. A subscription management system can help you to manage fees you charge for subscriptions. Allowing for a subscription will ensure repeat readers as they receive not only the publications but insights from your blog as well.

Promote yourself. Whether it’s through your website, networked websites, or social media; it’s important to promote yourself and your blog. Utilizing social media is a great way to promote your blog by connecting it to your Facebook® and Twitter® accounts. By connecting your blog to you social media accounts every time you have a new post on your blog readers will be notified through their respective social media accounts.

Though creating a blog can be hard work in the beginning, as you find a voice and a following it can not only be a great business but a very fulfilling part of life as well. The real secret to getting people to return time and again to your blog really isn’t a secret at all, if you write well and are entertaining readers will find your blog a joy to read day after day.

With thousands and even millions of blogs out there, it’s hard to get your voice out there and heard. It might seem amazing to see some blogs with millions of followers on them, but you really just have to go about it the right way.

The first thing you need to do when you make your blog is to try to cater to a specific group. It’s a great way to differentiate yourself from the millions of other bloggers, but if you feel like you want to just have a general blog you can get away with it if you have a quirky or interesting type of humor or personality. Catering to a specific group doesn’t mean changing yourself, it means that you need to find something that you enjoy or love and start blogging about it. It can be cooking or it can be nature walks or adventures, if you’re a great poet you can put different poetry samples on your blog along with other poetry stuff people might be interested in. You could even make guides to writing poetry, which would be sure to attract a lot of love-struck men who don’t know how to put their feelings into words. The point is, you need something to set yourself apart. If you can do that, you can also just blog in general. Make the blog posts that actually follow you’re catering to a specific group, but after that you can throw in some that are about you or about your life events or updates.

Some people don’t have enough time to look through all of your blogs, so a good thing to do is to offer updates to their emails through newsletters. It’s important to choose a good newsletter template, it can even help you cater to your individual blog readers. Make one that reflects who you are or what your blog is about to help them feel more connected and safe. When your make your newsletter template, you also need to know what you’re going to put on your newsletters. You want to put the flashiest or most interesting topic you have been writing about on the top, or just the one that has the most people reading or talking about it, and then follow it up with other interesting ones or specific ones. When you’re having your followers join your mailing list, you can give them options to help them make the experience more user-friendly. You can have options for them to receive all of your newsletters, or just ones that talk about certain blog posts, such as only your special blog posts or only your personal blog posts. You can even have them decide how often they want the blog posts, such as once a day, once a week, or a lot longer. Whatever they decide, they’ll be happy, which is very important for a blog follower.

Whenever you are building a new site you should take in [...]

Whenever you are building a new site you should take into account SEO on-page factors and you need to optimize your content to make it friendlier for major search engines. SEO focused web development is huge in establishing the overall success for a website. Wordpress makes this process much simpler through the admin panel and a few plugins. Your efforts will not guarantee a place at the top of search rankings due to the other factors that go into search engine algorithms, but is necessary for a solid search marketing foundation. You have to keep an eye on the industry trends to make sure that you are using current best practices and using those methods. Set up specific pages that are targeted to each of your keywords. A blog is another great way to add content on a regular basis, which the search engines like and gives you more opportunities to have pages rank on various keywords.

There are several SEO factors that are important when setting up your site. The first factors are establishing the keywords that you want to rank for. You can do research to identify which keywords will be the best for your site using tools such as Google’s keyword tool. Once you have identified your keyword(s) you can start optimizing the site. The most important thing about your website is its content. Make sure that you have high quality, unique content that hasn’t been posted anywhere else on the internet. Make sure that your keyword (and variations of your keyword) appear multiple times, but in natural occurrences and variations. Make sure that your content sounds and reads well for humans. Also make sure that it is good quality so that your readers will enjoy the content and want more. As you write more and more content you should also link from one page on your site to another frequently to help pass some authority to various pages and to help build your link profile with the search engines. The content on your site is the most important aspect since it will appeal to both search engines and humans and will ultimately be the main factor in users converting on your site.

The next thing to focus on is your meta description and title tag. Both of these will be viewed by search robots and users, so it’s best for your title tag to include your main keyword and your brand. For the description you should include your keywords and obviously a description of what your site is about, but write it in a way so that users will want to click through to your site. If you haven’t bought your domain yet you can also work to get your keyword in your domain as well. That sends a strong signal to the search engines about what your site is about. As you set up your pages and blog post permalinks you should include the titles of the pages or posts in the URL so that they automatically update with highly relevant information about both your site and the specific page. The All in One SEO plugin will make it a breeze to set up these page elements and make it easier to manage them moving forward as well.

As you focus on the overall quality of your new site, SEO should be a focus from the beginning. Implementing these elements will help your site be a success in the long-term as you build your focus and authority of with the search engines.

At some point, you’re going to consider working from ho [...]

At some point, you’re going to consider working from home. Some professions allow you to do it while others create some complications if you decide to pursue it. You can’t guarantee that you will remain focused on your work from home, especially if you have family members living with you. Working from an office is the best way to do things because you won’t have anything else to focus on besides your work. You might luck out and find a house that has an office built-in or have to build an office on your own. As with any home improvement project, you shouldn’t start it unless you have the experience to complete it. There are numerous contractors available who will complete your project on time and under budget. You should develop a list of these contractors and pick the one who will work within your budget. Read reviews about your contractor before you choose them. Several websites exist that compile reviews about every contractor in your immediate area. Look at as many reviews as you can to prevent the chance of choosing a contractor that won’t do the best job.

Once you have your workspace set aside, you will then need to focus on filling it with the right furniture. The furniture you need for your home office depends entirely on your line of work. Before you buy anything else, you have to invest in a computer, desk, and office chair than will suit your needs the best. After you have those pieces, the rest should fall into place. There’s no limit to the amount of places that sell precisely what you need. Business are out there waiting to bend over backwards to make sure you’re satisfied and outfitted well enough to become successful. You won’t even have to leave the confines of your office to get what you need. If you don’t have enough capital to buy everything, you could always look into the rental option. After awhile, you could easily purchase what you rented or go out and buy new items or you can use a company like Rent A Center to rent and with the possibility to own it after a certain number of payments. It’s still cheaper as a short term option until you have earned enough money to buy the items outright.

Every business has to start somewhere. Some of the most successful corporations started out in a garage or home office. You might not experience the same level of success; however, you never know if you will reach the highest plateaus until you try. You could fall flat on your face or you could become a millionaire overnight. Anything in this life comes with a certain level of risk. Don’t go into setting up your home office with any sort of trepidation. It will be scary at first, but if you keep at it and do everything to the best of your abilities, you will succeed before long. Prevailing in the business world is all about perseverance. Those who are courageous enough to outlast the also-rans are the ones who come out on top in the end.
